Okay, so the 7th Annual Rondo Awards were announced last week. Many thanks to everyone who put in a vote for HORROR 101 - even though we did not win, it was lovely to feel the support in the cold spring air.

Well...besides Let the Right One In, which probably should have won this...I don't know that I saw a new horror film last year that was better than Dark Knight. While I wouldn't dream of categorizing Dark Knight as horror in any way, 2008 was not a good year for horror films. Although I haven't seen Splinter or Inside, which I've heard were very good. Hmmm... actually The Orphanage was better than Dark Knight. Yeah, what the fuck?

Actually, I would disagree with that, Scott. 2008 was a pretty decent year for horror, it just happened to be coming from the indie and foreign markets as opposed to Hollywood. Below was my Top 20 from last year:

Blood Car
Cottage, The
Frontier(s)
Funny Games
Girl Next Door, The
Ils (Them)
Inside
Let the Right One In
Machine Girl, The
Mulberry Street
Orphanage, The
Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead
[Rec]
Ruins, The
Quarantine
Signal, The
Spine Tingler! The William Castle Story
Stuck
Sweeny Todd (released late 2007)
Teeth

I really want to see Frontier(s) and Inside. I believe I have Stuck in my netflix queue, too. I should give The Ruins and Quarantine a watch too, I suppose. Didn't hear of about half of those. Thanks for the list. I need to get better tuned in.
