Walking Dead Panel at C2E2

Stars of The Walking Dead To Participate in Q & A with Fans; Followed by 3-Hour Signing!

Norwalk, CT, April 2, 2012:  Lauren Cohan, who plays the popular character Maggie Greene, the principal love interest of Glenn (Steven Yeun) in AMC’s The Walking Dead, will appear along with Yeun at this year’s Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2).  Yeun’s appearance at C2E2 was recently announced (3/28) and Ms. Cohan’s appearance has just been confirmed by show organizers.  The two stars of the hit television series will appear at the pop culture convention on Saturday, April 14 where they will conduct a Q & A with fans followed by a free 3-hour signing.

About Lauren Cohan:

In addition to her role as Maggie on The Walking Dead, Lauren is most recognized for her roles as Bela Talbot on Supernatural, Vivian Volkoff on Chuck, and Rose on The Vampire Diaries.  
Lauren was born in Philadelphia and lived in New Jersey during her childhood before moving to the United Kingdom.  She graduated from the University of Winchester / King Alfred's College where she studied Drama and English Literature, before touring with a theatre company she co-founded at the University.
Lauren then split her time and work between London and LA, working on several films as well as some non-commercial projects.

About Steven Yeun:

In addition to his starring role in The Walking Dead, Mr. Yeun has also recently starred in an episode of the television series Law & Order: Los Angeles and an episode of Warehouse 13.  Steven Yeun lived in Chicago where he performed with the Second City Theatre and understudied for the Steppenwolf Theatre’s production of Kafka on the Shore.  In addition, he was part of several improvisational/sketch comedy groups including Stir Friday Night, Hands and Detective Detective.  Additional credits include The Big Bang Theory and the role of Chaz in the independent film My Name is Jerry.    Mr. Yeun currently lives in Los Angeles.

Horror Comics & Fall TV

So, it's that special time of year everyone...new fall television. Not a huge amount of horror offerings sadly. Supernatural has already started and it's been extremely kick ass so far. I have watched one episode of Vampire Diaries...meh, but there is one extremely hot dude on the show which might keep me coming back a few more times. I watched Eastwick on wednesday and it also gets a meh...actually less than a meh. Neither spooky, nor sexy, nor very funny. I do love the actor playing the Jack Nicholson role, Paul Gross. He was awesome on Due South and Slings and Arrows! In the sci-fi market, Fringe has hit the ground running and Joss Whedon's Dollhouse starts tonight! I am a fan of both shows.

I am also a big fan of the floppy pages. Yes horror friends, when television leaves you wanting for more, please consider the comic book for your entertainment pleasure. There are TONS of horror comics out there and many of them are damn good. I called over to our wonderful Deathscribe sponsor, Comix Revolution, to find out what was popular in their store.

Walking Dead! -Folks living through a Zombie apocalypse. 'Nuff said!

30 Days of Night- You saw the movie...the comic is WAY better...and there are tons of these.

Zombies vs Robots! I have this book. It's awesome. The art by Ashley Wood is STUNNING. Highly recommended.

DC: Blackest Night- if you like your superheroes...and you love your zombies...then have I got the Green Lantern event for you. I have heard nothing but good things about this series.

Clive Barker Comics Galore! Mr. Barker totally delivers a great comic experience. He has a new book called Seduth from IDW.

This Season: Zombie is the New Black!

In the most recent episode of one of my new favorite podcasts, Comic Book Queers, the boys were discussing Marvel Zombies and someone mentioned that "Zombie is the new black for comic books" or even better, "Zombie is the new Zombie". What a fabulous expression and oh so true. Zombies have been busting out all over in the funny books these days. After the ridiculous success of Marvel Zombie, half the titles in the store are tossing a token zombie or two in their upcoming pages. Hell even the recent (and supremely awesome) Wonder Woman animated film had Amazombies! And they majestically kicked undead ass.

Check out this fabulous round up of the recent zombie comic mayhem... If you are asking, "But Aly...I love comics and zombies, where do I begin?" I say go straight to Image's Walking Dead. I don't actively read this one but it is the creme de la creme of zombie comics at the moment.

And if you want to introduce some fun zombie into your life...I am wild about Art Balthazar and Franco's Zombie Butler Roy character in the Grim Reaper Comics. Both Grim Reaper and one of their other comics, Patrick the Wolfboy, are hilarious, adorable, and also kid friendly for the Wildclaw Juniors out there. These guys are Chicago locals too so show them some love!
